Apple iPhone 17

Still the most sensible iPhone for most people, though the 2026 price rise makes it a less obvious bargain.

Very good

Best for: Most iPhone buyers who don't need a telephoto camera

The iPhone 17 brought ProMotion's 120Hz refresh rate, a brighter 6.3-inch screen, 256GB of base storage and an 18MP Center Stage selfie camera to Apple's standard model. Tom's Guide called it the iPhone most people should buy and praised the A19's performance, while noting that its 2x crop-based telephoto mode lags behind a true zoom lens. Apple raised the price by $100 in September 2026, and the unlocked model now costs $929, which narrows its advantage over the Pro.
