TCL QM8L 65"

Close to flagship brightness at a mid-range street price, and the LCD to pick for a sunny room.

Very good

Best for: Bright rooms and gamers who want maximum brightness per dollar

TCL's 2026 QM8L is its brightest mainstream Mini LED TV, with a claimed 6,000-nit peak and a wide-angle VA panel. CGMagazine measured between about 3,700 and 5,500 nits on the 75-inch model, called blooming hard to notice in normal viewing and scored it 9/10, while Tom's Guide gave it four stars. All four HDMI 2.1 ports run 4K at 144Hz, and it adds Wi-Fi 6 and an ATSC 3.0 tuner over the QM7L. Reviewers flagged oversaturated reds and blues in Standard mode and a flimsy plastic stand, but its street price has fallen to roughly half its MSRP.

What's good

  • Extremely bright HDR, well suited to bright rooms
  • Wide-angle panel holds up better off-center than the QM7L
  • Four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports at 4K 144Hz
  • Bang & Olufsen speakers better than most built-ins

What's not

  • Reds and blues run hot out of the box
  • Plastic stand feels flimsy
  • Filmmaker Mode not reference-accurate
  • No 55-inch option
