Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen)
The earbuds to beat for blocking noise, as long as you can live with bulky buds and short battery life.

Our verdict
If blocking noise is the priority, Bose's second-generation Ultra Earbuds are the benchmark, outperforming most rivals on voices and transit rumble alike. The update adds wireless charging to the case and improves noise suppression on calls. Sound is full and punchy, and aptX Adaptive is available on supported Android phones, though there is no LDAC and EQ control is basic. The trade-offs are size and stamina: these are among the bulkiest buds here, and battery drops to 4 hours with Immersive Audio on.
