Sony WH-1000XM6
Among the most complete noise-cancelling headphones available, held back mainly by a rising price and a microphone that struggles outdoors.

Our verdict
Sony's sixth-generation flagship refines an already excellent formula, pairing some of the most effective noise cancellation available with a detailed, well-balanced default tuning. The return of a folding hinge makes it a better travel companion than the XM5, although the mechanism feels less robust than the price suggests. LDAC, LE Audio and multipoint pairing leave few gaps in the feature set. The main weaknesses are a list price that has crept above launch MSRP and a microphone that loses clarity in wind and street noise.
What's good

- Balanced, detailed sound with a capable app EQ
- Folds again for travel
- LDAC and LE Audio support plus multipoint
What's not
- Current list price sits above the $449.99 launch MSRP
- Call quality drops off outdoors
- Folding hinge feels finicky
- No audio over USB-C
