Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless
Exceptional 57-hour battery life and a user-replaceable battery make up for noise cancellation that still trails Sony and Bose.

Our verdict
The Momentum 5 builds on its predecessor's strengths with a 57-hour battery and, unusually for this category, a battery owners can replace themselves. Sennheiser has doubled the microphone count for noise cancellation and voice pickup, closing much of the gap to Sony and Bose without quite matching them. Sound is engaging and bass-forward with plenty of detail, and aptX Lossless rewards owners of compatible Android phones. The earcups rotate flat rather than folding, so the case is still bulky.
What's good
- Class-leading 57-hour battery with ANC on
- User-replaceable battery extends its lifespan
- Rich, detailed sound with aptX Lossless support
- Clearly better ANC and call mics than Momentum 4
What's not
- ANC still a step behind Sony and Bose
- Doesn't fold, only lies flat
- Treble extension can sound rolled off
- Rarely discounted so far
