Our verdict
The 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip is Apple's large-screen workstation for photo, video and music production. The 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU and Thunderbolt 5 ports make it far more capable than the Air under sustained creative workloads, and reviewers including Expert Reviews and Computer Bild describe it as hugely powerful with very long battery life. The 16.2-inch mini-LED XDR display is one of the best laptop screens for HDR grading and color work. It is heavy at 4.7 lb, Computer Bild found it very loud under full load, and Apple raised its list price from $2,699 to $2,999 in June 2026.
